ELEMENTARY SPORT

The emphasis during the elementary years is on developing gross-motor and fine-motor sporting skills. We also foster fun in a non-threatening environment to provide students with a positive perception of sport to take into the high school years.
Examples of sporting activities:

  • Modified fun games; e.g. bulrush, stuck in the mud, rocks, jailbreak
  • soccer, basketball, tee ball, kick ball
  • Swimming: learn to swim, stroke improvement, water safety, water games, slides

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL SPORT

During the middle and high school years the physical education program emphasizes both physical and social development. Physical education is a continuous process to motivate each student to make wise choices. Through this program students will demonstrate understanding of sportsmanship, cooperation, respect for and acceptance of self and others, self discipline and confidence. Concepts of safety, knowledge of rules and game strategies, and the promotion of a lifelong physical fitness programs are emphasized.

Examples of sporting activities:

  • Athletics, softball, dance, soccer, basketball, kick ball, cricket, touch footy, athletics, European handball, etc.
  • Swimming: learn to swim, stroke improvement, water safety, water games, slides, water polo
  • Gymnastics: beam, bars, floor, volt, etc.
  • Surfing: learn to surf at Manly beach
  • Swimming carnival
  • Other sports carnivals
