Curriculum
the American International School
Established in 1999, the American International School is a co-educational, international day school that offers a Pre-school through Grade 12 educational program. AIS is open to all students regardless of race, religion or national origin. The school enrols a diverse community throughout Sydney and the surrounding suburbs. New admissions account for approximately one-quarter of the student body each year. The student faculty ratio is approximately 10:1. Of the faculty, 90% have earned master’s degrees or higher and have an average of 10 years teaching experience. Most have taught at other international schools and/or American schools.
The American International School in Sydney is organized into three divisions: Elementary School (K-5), Middle School (6-8) and High School (9-12). Each of the three divisions offers an academically challenging curriculum appropriate to the needs of the age group it serves. This provides a seamless transition into the American K-12 school system and similar ease of movement into American and international universities. The school is registered by the New South Wales Board of Studies and offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB) to students. The curriculum follows American curriculum standards and is also under accreditation evaluation by the US based New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Council of International Schools.
